We hope that you are enjoying using the World Mile website and you are not encountering any problems browsing it. It is designed and authored in accordance with worldwide accessibility standards published by the W3C, meeting priority 2 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0). This means this website is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of circumstance or ability.

If you do have a problem viewing the site, we have included a number of things that will allow you to customise your viewing experience of the World Mile website.

Browser compatibility

The site has been tested to ensure it is accessible on a wide range of browsers and platforms. This means that just about everyone can view this website through an accepted web browser as intended. This also includes text only browsers.

Access keys

The website is created such that it can be used by blind or partially sighted users. It is screen reader compatible and can be navigated without a mouse or keyboard.

The site uses access keys to allow users to navigate round the site using the keyboard, as per the UK Government Access Key Standard. The following short cuts are employed:

Windows based users should press the Alt key with the appropriate access key. Apple users need to press the Ctrl key and the necessary access key.

Size of the web site text

Relative font sizes are used on the site, which allows users to easily maker text smaller or larger as needed. Depending on your browser please refer to the following:

Presentation of the site

Cascading Style Sheets have been used to control the presentation of pages and properly structured markup has been used for content. If stylesheets are not supported by your browser or they are turned off, all relevant information on the site can still be accessed and read.

Images

If images on the site are not viewable we have implemented alternative text in their place to aid the user.

Using plug-ins

As much as possible we publish all our content as XHTML rather than other formats that require plug-ins, such as Adobe PDF and Adobe Flash. Where these plug-ins are used we aim to make them as accessible as possible, offering an alternative if required.

Standards compliance

Our code conforms to the XHTML 1.0 Strict standard. Valid XHTML. All stylesheets are valid according to the W3C validator. Valid CSS.
